September--Alex is 2 1/2, Evey is 8 months!

September has been a busy and fun month so far! Alex has been going to school 3 days a week, and we go to the Y most other weekdays and some saturdays. When we do stay home, Alex and mommy both are ready to get out by lunchtime! The kids are doing a great job of playing together except Alex is not too happy that Evelyn can crawl to get his toys now!! That's right, she's not getting too far too fast, but she is definitely mobile by the second week of September. She moves a crawl or two at a time but seems to want to get her feet under her and that prevents her from continuing. She does a lot of plank and downward dog poses (for those of you who do yoga) from all fours and can pretty easily go from sitting to crawl position and back. Any day now I'm sure I'll be chasing her who I'm sure will be chasing Alex...so we will all be busy! She can also hold herself up standing at the couch or low tables for quite a while.
Grandma Brooke visited over Labor Day weekend, and we took a trip to the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. Alex had a blast especially in the Mr Potato Head rocket ship exhibit and in the play food store. Evelyn enjoyed seeing the sights and playing in the tiny tots area.
We went to the Montgomery zoo and discovered that Evey really likes to swing just like Alex did around this age (and still does). Gram and Pop McElvaine visited the weekend of Sep 11th, which worked out well so Andy and I could do the Montgomery PT Solutions Sprint Triathlon. Andy found me a road bike a week before the race, so I got a little practice on it. Andy placed 2nd in his age group and I didn't place but had a decent time for my first "real" tri.

Bears preseason football...

Alex's favorite "shoes"--he often puts these on before he comes out of his room in the morning or after nap

More fun to come this month since it is only half over but Andy will be gone for a week for a "field trip" for school. Here are the pictures from September so far.
