Easter 2011

We enjoyed Easter at home in Montgomery this year.  We celebrated with church, then an egg hunt and baskets at home.  After naps, we joined lots of friends in our neighborhood for an egg hunt outside...it was HOT!, then had dinner at home.  Our egg hunt outside inlcuded real eggshells loaded with confetti to break on each other's heads...the kids were not too sure about that.  The did enjoy their new toys and the candy!

Space Shuttle Launch Trip

The kids and I had a great opportunity to take a trip to Florida with Gram and Pop to visit my sister-in-law Michelle and her family. Michelle works for Boeing at NASA and had tickets for a prime viewing spot for one of the last shuttle launches ever. We had a great trip with beach visits and lots of gram and pop time but the highlight was the shuttle launch. Alex was beaming and shaking with excitement and even Evelyn was bouncing and pointing at the shuttle in the sky. What a great chance to witness history and share it with the kids! They may not remember it, but I will! Michelle and Rob were kind enough to take pictures not only of the launch but also of the kids watching the launch to see their reactions. Thanks for a great visit! Here are some more pictures from the trip. http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/sharing/shareRedirectSwitchBoard.jsp?token=526931411606:1422403445&sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee

Big News...Again

Since we had family in town for the kids' big birthday and baptism weekend, we waited to share our news with them by letting Evelyn announce it in person...

We are expecting another baby, due September 19, 2011!!

Alex Reading his Favorite Book

Alex loves to read, listen to, and recite The Polar Express. He knows the entire book and can "read" the whole thing to you. He is a little hard to understand in the video but I promise if you follow along, you will see that he doesn't miss anything!

Evelyn's Baptism and First Birthday Party

We celebrated Evelyn's baptism and had a first birthday party for her on Sunday, February 20th. Pastor Cory presided at the church ceremony where Evelyn remained mostly calm except for the actual hand over to the pastor, put water on her head part. She looked darling in her big fluffy pink and white dress and Alex looked dapper in his shirt and tie. Andy also got baptised during the same ceremony and we all became members of Woodland UMC.

We held a brunch reception that rolled right into a birthday ice cream party at our home. We had a good crowd of about 6 kids, plus friends and family. We enjoyed quiches, ham, fruit, and cinnamon rolls for brunch. Evelyn changed into her 1 year old birthday tutu and ice cream top and we sang happy birthday then enjoyed ice cream sundaes. Evelyn ate all her ice cream and cone and was happy to share opening her gifts with her brother. Here are more pictures from the day. http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/sharing/shareRedirectSwitchBoard.jsp?token=426931411606:624334998&sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee

Alex's 3rd Birthday

We celebrated Alex's 3rd birthday on Saturday, February 19th with a birthday party for family and friends. We visited the local fire station where the fire chief and firefighters gave us a tour of the station and showed the kids around the trucks. They spouted water and turned on the lights and sirens as well as let the kids crawl in and pretend to drive the trucks. After the station tour, we met back at our house and enjoyed sandwiches, snacks, and a fire truck cake and cupcakes after we sang happy birthday. The kids (we had about 12) played inside and outside as it was a beautiful warm and sunny day. Alex had a blast with his friends, and loved his many presents.

Alex is a loving and happy 3 year old who loves to ask "what's this/that?", tell you he loves you, sing songs, and play hard. Potty training has come a long way and he is only wearing diapers at night. He had a checkup on March 24th and weighed 33 pounds (61%) and was 37 1/4" tall (40%). He is very active and loves to ride his bike, play sports, and generally just run around. Here are some more pictures from his birthday party.

Evelyn's First Birthday-Part One

Evelyn turned one year old on January 2nd, 2010! Since we had just come back from our cruise, we had a mellow day at home but got to celebrate with some yummy cupcakes and gifts while Gram and Pop were still in town.
Shortly after her birthday, she had her one year checkup. She is still our little girl, weighing in at 19 pounds, 6 oz (19%), stretching to 28.5 inches long (25%), and her head circumference was 17.75 inches (47%). She is doing great with her milestones is getting better at communicating every day. She uses signs for yes, no, more, want, milk, diaper, and please. She says (or at least has said) mama, dada, a-x (Alex), a-me (Sammie), yes, this, that, and a handful of other sounds that sometimes mean similar things like ba and un (snack, food, want). She walks and borderline runs all over the house and climbs onto low chairs. She loves to push buttons, move lightswitches, dance and clap to music, wave hello and bye-bye, give kisses, blow kisses and make funny sounds. She is getting more opinionated and likes to express her displeasure at some things rather "strenuously" but still is generally well-natured and smiley. She has gotten very attached to mom and dad over the past month or so, wanting to be held a lot and has some stranger anxiety. She still nurses 2-3 times a day but is also drinking "regular" milk and eating lots of foods...seems like chocolate is a big favorite!!
No stranger to sugary treats anyway, Evelyn dug right into her birthday cupcake. Alex led the Happy Birthday song and the present opening and is now eagerly anticipating his birthday next month. We plan to do some more celebrating when more family is visiting for her baptism in February (same weekend as Alex's birthday party), but here are pictures of her first birthday. And here is video of the singing. Happy Birthday baby girl...you are our super sweet pumpkin pie and we love you!

Cruise and New Years 2011

We rang in 2011 somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico on our first cruise. We went with Gram and Pop, Aunt Michelle and Uncle Rob, and cousins Robby and Beth. We had a great time and the kids loved all the attention from their extended family. Alex stayed in Gram and Pop's cabin and Evelyn stayed with us, which worked out pretty well. We enjoyed playing mini-golf, roaming the decks, and of course, eating lots of food...who knew ice cream and cookies were standard at every meal?? I enjoyed the on-board spa and Andy and I both got some workouts in the gym and running on the short track on the top deck (11 laps=1 mile means lots of circles!). The grandparents kept the kids one morning so Andy and I could enjoy an excursion from Cozumel of sailing, snorkeling, and beach park fun. We also got to enjoy a show and drinks with Michelle and Rob one night. We celebrated Gram and Pop's 41st wedding anniversary and Beth's 12th birthday. New Year's Eve was our last night on the ship and we kept pretty quiet, but the kids had a blast with the blowouts and hats and singing at dinner. It was great to have some time away from the day-to-day busyness (and business) of our hectic schedule at home. Here are the pictures from the cruise. And one video...dancing and singing at dinner.
